It’s Teacher Appreciation Week and that means it was year two of our Consumer Auto Care teacher detailing event! 🫧

The past two days have been busy!

On Wednesday, we headed to Wellington for the FFA Ag Technology Management CDE. During the contest Brennan, Cane, Jaxon, and Mag completed three knowledge tests and then welding, implement, and construction practicums. The team placed 8th out of 26 teams. Great job boys!

Today we traveled to Fort Hays Tech North Central for their annual GMAW Competition. Cane, Landen, Mag, and Jaxon completed a small and large weldment and a knowledge test. We will find out results tomorrow around 2pm.

Finally, we checked out the Mid America Farm Expo in Salina on our way home. But only after stopping at the famous Cozy Inn for some burgers!

Lots of miles within 48 hours but I’m proud of all of these kids and their hard work!

Last month these students completed their OSHA-10 certification through a partnership with Flint Hills Technical College. This is an awesome opportunity for students to get certified and earn college credit for free!

Senior Brennan Copple was definitely the star of the show today in Hutch between his knowledge of JD equipment and because he got some exciting news before winter break. Copple traveled to the Next-Gen Tech Expo in Iowa last semester to work for a chance to be invited into the highly competitive Agrivision Equipment/PrairieLand Partners WeLead Tech Institute. A limited number of students are offered an invite into this program after the competition and we are very proud of Brennan for earning his spot!

Today we had to opportunity to head to Hutch for the PrairieLand Partners career expo! Students learned about John Deere technologies and careers/scholarship opportunities within the industry. Thank you PrairieLand for putting on this event!

There’s a lot going on in the shop and these are some of the hardest working kids you’ll find. From bell to bell (and sometimes beyond) they are going non stop. Semester final project season is always a sight to see.
