🚚 Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) Regulations:

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has established regulations for training requirements for entry-level drivers.
These regulations apply to individuals seeking to:
📌Obtain a Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) for the first time.
📌Upgrade an existing Class B CDL to a Class A CDL.
📌Obtain a school bus (S), passenger (P), or hazardous materials (H) endorsement for the first time.

💡Important Note💡: The ELDT regulations are not retroactive. Individuals who received a CDL or an S, P, or H endorsement before February 7, 2022, are not required to complete training for those credentials.
If an applicant obtained a Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) before February 7, 2022, and subsequently obtains a CDL before the CLP or renewed CLP expires, they are exempt from ELDT requirements.
Exceptions exist for individuals taking a skills test as outlined in 49 CFR Part 383.
📋 Training Provider Registry:

The FMCSA Training Provider Registry maintains records of CDL applicants who have completed the new training and certification process specified in the ELDT regulations.

🌐 Background:

The ELDT regulations and the Training Provider Registry were mandated under the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21).
The ELDT final rule was informed by consensus recommendations from the Entry-Level Driver Training Advisory Committee (ELDTAC), a negotiated rulemaking committee that convened in 2015.
