One of our summer projects is installing a new computer control system for the organ at Central Presbyterian Church in Avon, NY. The organ's old electric switching system was failing resulting in many ciphers and other issues. The project includes rewiring the entire instrument as well as updating the console.

As of this week the organ chests have been rewired (on site), and the new control panel is nearly done.

The console is a little more complicated. The old switching system and wiring have been gutted and we're basically starting with just the shell. A new stop tab rail is being installed along with adding pistons to the keyboards and pedal board (the organ originally had none), and the pedal board is getting a bit of a restoration, replacing worn out felt and getting new pedal key caps.

The newly renovated blower room for the Hook & Hastings organ at Christ Church, Rochester, is nearly done! For a few weeks a Parsons crew has been working on installing the new blower, reservoir, and humidifier; as well as cleaning, painting, and sealing the room. Air filters have been added to keep the air going into the organ clean… looks like a proper blower room now!

The last few months have been spent making parts, a lot of parts. This past week the Choir slider chests were completed in the woodshop, toe boards dipped and racking completed! In the next month we'll be taking the main floor down in the set-up room and start assembling the organ from all these parts!

Last week we sent a large crew down to Hampton, Virginia, where we removed our own Project 7 (1993) from St. John's Episcopal Church. We are reconfiguring the organ from tracker action to electric slider action, removing/swapping a few stops, revoicing, all the while keeping the original casework! It's going to be an interesting project!
