Phonemic Awareness in Action!

Heggerty is a fast-paced, 10-minute daily lesson designed to build phonemic awareness—the ability to hear, identify, and play with individual sounds in spoken words.

During these oral and auditory exercises, your kiddos are learning to:
•Blend sounds together to speak and read words
(/c/ /a/ /t/ \ cat)
• Segment words into their individual sounds
• Isolate beginning, middle, and ending sounds
• Manipulate sounds to make new words
(changing the /c/ in cat to /b/ to make bat)

Since reading starts with listening, these quick daily drills build the brain muscles your child needs before connecting sounds to written letters. It’s one of the strongest foundations we can set for early reading and writing success!

Safety first! Today our students practiced their annual bus evacuation drills to ensure everyone knows exactly what to do in case of an emergency. 🚌🚨
From learning how to stay calm and listen to their driver to practicing a quick, safe exit, our kids did an absolute phenomenal job! A big thank you to our wonderful bus drivers and staff for guiding our students through a smooth and successful practice. 🛑👏

What a milestone! Our kindergarteners wrapped up their very first full week of school on Friday, and they did an incredible job! 🎒✨ From practicing new classroom routines to making new best friends, some of our youngest learners are already settling right in.

Mrs. Pruiett's class loved reading "Our Class is a Family"! 📚❤️ It taught them that their classroom is a safe, welcoming home and showed them that family isn't just about blood relatives, but a special group of people who care for one another—and that's exactly who they are in Room 212! 🏫✨
Room 212 is a place to be yourself, make mistakes, and work as a team. 🤝🌟 They support one another, celebrate their differences, and help each other learn and grow. 🌱🎨 In Room 212, everyone belongs! 🫂💙
