⏰ One of the most common questions we hear from homeschool families new to online classes: "How do we manage homework when class only meets once a week?"

Great news — with a little planning, it's totally manageable! Here are some tips to help your student stay on track between weekly class sessions: 💛

📅 Treat assignment due dates like appointments — put them on the calendar as soon as they're posted so nothing sneaks up on you

📂 Check Canvas at the start of each week — know what's due and plan backwards from the due date

✂️ Break assignments into smaller chunks — instead of saving everything for the day before class, spread the work across 2-3 days

🕐 Set a consistent homework time — same time, same place each week builds a rhythm that sticks

📝 Read the feedback — teachers leave detailed comments on assignments, and reviewing that feedback helps students improve before the next submission

🙋 Reach out if you're stuck — teachers are available and want to help! Don't wait until class day to ask a question

When students know what to expect each day, they feel more confident, stay more organized, and get more done. Here are some tips to help your family build a routine that works 💛

☀️ Start at the same time every day — consistency signals to your brain that it's time to focus
📚 Block out time for live classes first — build everything else around your scheduled class times
✏️ Set a dedicated study period — a regular time for assignments, reading, and review
🧠 Take real breaks — short breaks between subjects help students recharge and stay sharp
📵 Minimize distractions — phones away, notifications off during focused work time
🌙 End the school day at a consistent time — boundaries between school and home time matter!
