Happy , nieces and nephews! ๐๐
Today's tip: Don't overlook community college.
Have honest conversations with yourself and your parents about your educational goals and finances. Starting at a community college can help you complete general education courses at a lower cost while building a strong GPA.
A strong GPA can open the door to transfer scholarships at the university of your choice. ๐
Remember: the goal is graduation, and there are different ways to get there. Choose the path that sets YOU up for success. ๐โจ

Today's tip: Do the math. ๐งฎ
Have you applied for enough scholarships to cover your tuition, fees, books, and other college expenses? Too often, students apply for one or two scholarships and hope for the best.
Yo! Access to funding is getting more competitive every year. You should be: applying early, applying often, and paying close attention to local scholarships. Some may have smaller award amounts, but they can add up quickly and sometimes have fewer applicants than national programs.
Don't leave your education funding to chance. Make a plan, set a goal, and apply for every scholarship you're eligible for. Your future self will thank you. ๐โจ

Let's talk about AI for a second. ๐
Before you hit submit on that essay ChatGPT wrote in 12 seconds... just know we can tell. ๐ญ
The strongest essays sound personal, specific, and authentic. They tell your story, reflect your experiences, and answer the question in your voice. If AI does all the writing, reviewers miss the opportunity to get to know the person behind the application.
Use AI to help polish your work, not replace it. Your story got you this farโlet it do the talking. ๐โจ

Auntie needs a quick word about scholarship essays. ๐
If the application asks for an essay, don't skip it. And if you do submit one, make sure you're actually answering the question that was asked.
Every year, students leave scholarship money on the table by leaving the essay blank or submitting a response that doesn't address the prompt. ๐ญ
The essay is your chance to tell your story and help reviewers understand why you deserve the award. Take the time to complete it, answer the question directly, and give yourself the best possible chance to earn that scholarship.
Trust Auntie on this one. Answer the essay prompt! ๐โจ

๐โค๏ธHappy Juneteenth โค๏ธ๐
Today, we commemorate Juneteenthโa day that marks the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates freedom, resilience, and the enduring pursuit of opportunity.
As we reflect on the sacrifices, struggles, and triumphs of those who came before us, we are reminded that education remains one of the most powerful tools for creating opportunity, expanding possibilities, and transforming lives. Every degree earned, every scholarship awarded, and every dream pursued honors a legacy of perseverance and progress.
At the Rainey Day College Foundation, we believe that access to education helps open doors and empowers students to build brighter futures for themselves, their families, and their communities. Today, we celebrate how far we have come while continuing to invest in the promise of what is still possible.
May this Juneteenth inspire us all to learn, grow, dream boldly, and continue creating pathways to success for the generations that follow. โจ

Today Auntie wants to talk about FOLLOWING UP. ๐ง๐
Please check your emails. Then check them again. And when someone reaches out about a scholarship, internship, mentorship, college application, or opportunityโฆ respond promptly and professionally.
Too many students miss out on opportunities simply because they are not checking messages, replying late, or ignoring communication altogether. Lissen, if someone took the time to recommend you, interview you, mentor you, or offer guidance, silence is not the move. ๐ญ
Responsiveness shows maturity, professionalism, accountability, and genuine interest. Sometimes the opportunity is there waiting for you โ but you have to meet it halfway.
Auntie is rooting for everybody, but Auntie also needs everybody to answer their emails. ๐ซ
