Since 2024 the CDC has partnered with Operation Warm to provide essential apparel for kids so they can thrive and not worry about coats or shoes.

This year our Mobility Manger Kyra Gleckler created a mobile option in order to take the coats and shoes directly to those that need it the most.

Each day she loads up her van and travels the roads of Guernsey County to help kids stay warm and comfortable. Yesterday, she was at Nurture Preschool & Child Care in Byesville and today she will be out visiting local apartment complexes.

Within the next few weeks The Guernsey County Community Development Corp. will need to close the trail at the start of the Zemba Bros. Way, which is the last mile of The Great Guernsey Trail heading east from Lore City.

Our crews have been dealing with a slip for a few years and we’ve tried everything possible to repair it without closing the trail. Unfortunately the slip has progressed to the point where the entire section will need cut out,
rebuilt and shored up.

We don’t have a time for when the repair will be completed, because we don’t know what we are getting into until we start the work. But we will keep everyone updated as we progress through the project.

We want to say how blessed we are to have an experienced field staff that can complete a job like this, because that capability saves money and allows us to put our limited financial resources into other projects.

Our supervisors, Chris Gilreath and Shane Ickes, finished this ramp for a local veteran. Our ramps for veterans is supported entirely by the funding of a local organization that supports veterans. Thanks to that support we are able to build these ramps and ensure those that served our country can stay mobile and active in our community.

We are hiring a transportation driver. In this capacity you will drive one of our wheelchair accessible vans and transport people to and from medical appointments, employment and more.

Must be able to pass a drug and background check. The schedule is Monday through Friday, and the shift can be either 7:00 am to 3:30 pm or 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Pay starts at $15.00 per hour for a 40-hour work week. Full-time employees receive 14 paid holidays, a company phone and iPad and performance bonuses.

After 90 days you will be eligible for two weeks’ paid time off (PTO) and a raise.

Applications can be completed in person at 905 Wheeling Ave. Cambridge, M-F from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, or you can obtain one by sending an email request to our Executive Director, Ron Gombeda, at [email protected].

The CDC works to acquire and rehab dilapidated houses. Once completed, the home is offered as an affordable rental home for area individuals and families. This program ensures individuals have housing, while improving area neighborhoods.

FREE COMMUNITY COOKOUT 🍔🌭

Come hang out with us on August 20 from 12:00 PM–2:00 PM for a FREE Community Cookout hosted by the Guernsey County CDC and MOVE Staffing. Located in the MOVE parking lot 914 Wheeling Ave!

We’ll have hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, and lemonade, and most importantly, a chance to connect with people and resources right here in our community.

Community agencies joining us include Allwell, Bridges to Wellness, Lue Haven, Behavioral Health Choices, MOVE Staffing, and more.

If your agency or organization would like to set up an information table, pass out resources, or donate a sweet treat please contact Kyra or Lexi.

Everyone is welcome. Come grab lunch, meet your neighbors, and see what resources are available in our community. Together, anything is possible!
