Harvard Effective Altruism
Effective Altruism (EA) promotes the idea that we should use evidence and reason to do the most good in the world. (3) We can, and do, enjoy doing it!
We are a campus group dedicated to spreading the ideas of effective altruism—that we should apply evidence and reason to find the most effective ways to improve the world. In particular, we promote the ideas that:
(1) We are in a unique position to do good, and it's important that we care. (2) Through rational decision making, we can make a much larger difference.

Have a look a HEA member Stephen Casper's new post on Functional Decision Theory on the blog.
"Unfortunately...FDT is sometimes explained confusingly and misunderstood by its proponents and opponents alike. To help dissolve confusion about FDT and address key concerns of its opponents, I refute the criticism that FDT assumes that causation can happen backward in time and offer two key principles that provide a framework for clearly understanding it."
