MIT IMES is thrilled that Geoffrey Hinton, the “godfather of AI”, will be delivering the Judith Richter Lecture in Education, Science, and Peace. Hinton, professor emeritus, University of Toronto, VP & Engineering Fellow Google and the Physics Nobel Prize recipient 2024--will give a "brief and biased history of AI." He will talk about the risks of , especially the risk that AI will take over. He will speculate on why the public is not more scared of this, and will reframe how we can co-exist with superintelligent AI. Reception to follow.
