Starting tomorrow, for the month of July, we bring awareness to the mental health challenges minority populations face (BIPOC) - including but not limited to stigma, limited treatment access, and a lack of health insurance.

According to a 2020 study, less than 1 in 2 African Americans adults obtained care for mental health concerns (FDA, 2024).

As of 2018, Asian Americans were 60% less likely to receive MH treatment than non-hispanic whites.

These are only a fraction of the percentages demonstrating the absence of mental health treatment amongst minority groups.

Awareness is the first step to change. 🦋

This week is MH Awareness Week! 🧠💗

We take this week to show increased awareness for mental health- a subject that counselors are far too familiar with. We wouldn’t have the work we do without mental health.

The theme of this week’s topic is community. Community can be helpful or harmful to one’s mental health depending on the quality of that community. We encourage you to build supportive and meaningful communities to assist with your mental health.

What communities are you a part of?
