Low literacy rates do not happen by accident. They are strongly correlated with inadequate instruction, long-term academic disengagement, limited access to opportunity, and inaction.
When students are expected to navigate increasingly complex academic demands without strong literacy foundations, the resulting consequences often extend far beyond the classroom, reflecting systemic gaps in access and instruction far more than any limitation in a studentโs intelligence, effort, or potential.
The most important truth is that these outcomes are largely preventable when students receive explicit, evidence-based literacy instruction, early and consistently, and perhaps most importantly, targeted support when reading development does not occur as expected.
Every student deserves access to instruction that makes literacy achievable, sustainable, and empowering. Visit our website to learn how Pdot Literacy supports families and educational systems in closing literacy gaps through targeted, evidence-based instruction and strategic literacy support.

Black History Month is a time to honor the history, contributions, brilliance, and cultural impact of Black communities past, present, and future.
This month, and every month, Pdot Literacy celebrates Black authors, Black educators, Black language, and Black excellence in all of its forms. That is why we remain committed to ensuring all learners have access to high quality, inclusive, literacy instruction.
Because literacy is not just about reading words.
It is about understanding stories, including our own.

Dr. King reminded us that injustice anywhere impacts us all. Literacy is deeply connected to that truth. When students are denied access to strong, inclusive reading instruction, their voices, opportunities, and futures are affected and so is our collective well-being.
At Pdot Literacy, we believe literacy is a matter of justice, equity, and dignity. On this MLK Day, we honor Dr. Kingโs legacy by continuing the work of ensuring every learner has access to the tools they need to read, learn, and thrive. ๐โ๐พ
