As the Downtown Calhoun Farmers Market season comes to an end I wanted to say THANK YOU!
Made From Scratch was started almost 10 years ago by an extremely young, newly postpartum, first time mom who was looking for an outlet to escape the hectic world around her. It allowed me to give and create to people through my love of baking. Big life changes required a little less baking, so there was a large pause on my little “business”.
Fast forward to this time last year in a whole new town with no connections and a ton of encouragement from my family I decided to really take a chance on myself. I found myself signing up for local events, posting online, and really putting my little kitchen to work. I remember my first event, I borrowed a fold table from my dad, had a cheap plastic table cloth, and the wind was not in my favor. Things were flying everywhere. I soon found out what a community looks like. My booth neighbors immediately stopped what they were doing and helped me. It was something I’ve never forgot. I sold out that day, and had people asking for more. That is when I started my porch stand.
The porch stand was truthfully a hit and miss, a real learning curve. You battle weather, not knowing if your things are going to melt or freeze. Some days you have very little left, other days you are left with everything, but I powered through. Between events and preorders my holiday season was BUSY.
I took the winter to think about my next move. That is when I decided to apply for the Downtown Calhoun Farmer’s Market. To say I was stressed was an understatement and being accepted was a huge mix of joy and fear.
This summer was full of long bake days, early morning set ups, sweat, rain, and lots of laughs. None of this would have been possible without YOU.
To all of my returning customers, new customers, family, and friends your support this season has been more than I could ever ask for. Thank you so much. Be on the lookout for holiday preorders, new drops, and I’ll see you next year ☀️.
