The first week at Byron Heritage Church Preschool is in the books and I think all ended well. Of course there were tears and jitters at first, but the teachers did their best to comfort and calm the upset students and engage them in fun and interesting activities. By the end of the day all fear was forgotten, and I think all the students enjoyed making new friends and learning about each other. Can’t wait to see what this next week holds!

Mr. Doug saved his best and most fun science experiment until last. On Tuesday, he and Mr. Jesse visited Byron Heritage Church Preschool and showed the children how to make bubbles that wouldn't pop even if they held them in their hands. The secret is to wet your hands with bubble solution first. All the children got a chance to try to make and hold bubbles themselves, or just blow into the bowl of solution until it overflowed with bubbles. Then we went outside. There they showed the kiddos how to make ginormous bubbles with a bubble wand the size of a hulu hoop. He let the older ones try to make the huge bubbles themselves. For the littles, he and Jesse made the large bubbles and let them chase and pop them. It was a SUPER FUN morning of science activity. And we thank Mr. Doug and Mr. Jesse for showing it to us.

On Thursday the students at Byron Heritage Church Preschool had a breakfast of Pastries with their Parents. They enjoyed this special time with their parents before going to class with their friends. I hope everyone enjoyed this special time together.

On Thursday, the students Byron Heritage Church Preschool had a blast exploring Giggle Town in Warner Robins. Judging from the smiles, I believe they all had a great time. Because we took so many pictures, I will try to post them by class, beginning with Ms. Lacie's class.

On Tuesday Mr. Doug and Jesse visited Byron Heritage Church Preschool and showed the kiddos a cool way to blow up a balloon. He had a bottle filled with vinegar on which he attached a balloon filled with baking soda. When the baking soda mixed with the vinegar it produced carbon dioxide which caused the balloon to expand. He and Jesse then showed that the balloon filled with carbon dioxide was heavier than a balloon filled with air. After their demonstration, the children got to perform their own experiments and take their carbon dioxide filled balloons home. Thank you Mr. Doug and Jesse for showing the kiddos how amazing and entertaining science can be!

Our study theme this week at Byron Heritage Church Preschool was transportation. The children learned about all of the ways that people move from place to place. As a culminating event Ms. Tameka and Ms. Sheila, (Peach County school bus drivers) drove over and allowed the kiddos to see what it was like to ride a school bus. The students boarded the bus and Ms. Tameka lead them in a sing along of "The Wheel on the Bus" and then she gave them a tour of the bus. She showed them all of the emergency exits and how they worked. When they got off the bus, she showed the kiddos all of the safety features on the outside of the bus. She explained the light signals and what they meant to drivers she met on the road. Thank you SO MUCH to Ms. Tameka and Ms. Sheila for taking time out of your day to show our kiddos how you transport children to and from school every day.

On Tuesday, Ms. Carol and Ms. Dura visited Byron Heritage Church Preschool and showed the kiddos how to make beautiful Spring bird theme art projects. Ms Catherine's and Ms. Lacies class made birds in birdhouse wall hangings and Ms. Ford's class made bird shelf sitters. The children worked hard on their projects and were very proud of their creations. Thank you Ms. Carol and Ms Dura for spending time with our kiddos helping them develop their artistic talents!
