April 9th The AgVenture Program hosted an all-day field trip for the Butte Falls High School Students; 8th-12th grade.

Ashland Greenhouses was our first stop. What a great tour, learning how the greenhouses heat and cool and how efficiently they are built. Plant production is the name of the game; the transplanting machine saves a lot of time and plants each seedling accurately in its new pot. Large amounts of plant orders are shipped out daily; to smaller stores such as Grange Co-op, some orders go as far south as Mt. Shasta. Showing up on time and being honest and a hard worker will get you a job here; plant knowledge is not required. June and July are the slow times in this greenhouse business as most of the plants are sold by Mother's Day.

Lithia Park, tasting the mineral water and hanging out at the park was our next stop.

The Farm at SOU was the next stop. This farm grows food for SOU Cafeteria, The Hawk and the Ashland School District. Grapes are a newer addition to this farm. Various types and stages of compost were also explained to us. Near the end of our visit, we put on gloves and did some hand weeding underneath the grapevines.

We then ate lunch at The Hawk Cafeteria at SOU. Students were able to select anything they wanted to eat and as much as they wanted.

Great day spent in Ashland. Thank you to community members Wendy Bettencourt and Harold Leonardo, and Butte Falls Librarian Shone Ellis, and Kari our amazing bus driver.

April 8th The Learning Tree Preschoolers had a special visitor. Art, the Community Garden Manager dropped by during garden class.

Art had found an unusually large worm outside and wanted to share it with the class, as we have been studying worms. Art shared more worm facts with us.

We love getting to take out a question card out of the curious questions jar!

Rainbows were painted on rocks. And last but not least there was a wheelbarrow race. Soon we will be using the wheelbarrows out in the Community Garden.

April 3rd the AgVenture Program high school students toured Del Rio Vineyards & Winery.

Mr. Henderson gave an amazing informational tour. There is a large amount of machinery and employees needed for an operation of this size.

Looking at the budding grape vines, to learning about the fertilization process, and how and when the grapes are harvested keeps many employees very busy. Wine storage is varied based upon many factors. The bottling machine was interesting to learn about too

Students learned from the grape vine to the table; toured the tasting room and learned how sales of their products sell across the United States. So many different job opportunities in an operation this large.

Back in November at the Community Event Healthy Harvest Soup Meal that the students put on, they received a generous tip. We used that tip today and hung out at the Family Fun Center and had some fun!

The Learning Tree At The Landing preschoolers have been learning so much about good garden bugs during their garden class.

April 2nd Preschoolers made worms; and they may or may not have eaten a few of the sugary cheerios as they put them on the pipe cleaners. They also made butterflies.

One of their favorite things to do is to act out the stages of a seed growing into a plant.
