Town of Burlington Scholarship Alumni Spotlight: Cassandra Herrera

Meet Cassandra, a 2025 Burlington High School graduate and Town of Burlington Scholarship Fund recipient. Cassandra is currently attending UMass Amherst, where she’s working towards becoming a nurse.

Cassandra’s advice to students applying for the scholarship:

"Check in with your guidance counselors -- they're really helpful. And just be genuine and honest about your journey through high school and why you deserve the scholarship."

Burlington has a little-known scholarship funded by an optional check-off donation on your tax bill — and the deadline to apply is April 1. Wondering how you can donate to the Town of Burlington Scholarship Fund?
It’s easy! When you pay your municipal bills online (excise tax, dog license, tax bills, water bills, etc) you can opt to donate money by checking off the scholarship option. If you pay by check, you can send in an additional check to the fund ( your bill has information on it).
No amount is too small!
Imagine how many scholarships could be funded if each car owner paid $5 extra on their excise tax to TOBSF! 🎓
