Introducing my creation {THE PATTERN MIXING WALL}

This quite literally is my favorite thing I’ve ever made.

Come visit me this Saturday from 10-6 to ROTATE, FLIP & TURN your way through this ever-changing design wall.

I can see versions of this installed anywhere from galleries to MASS MoCA, from corporate offices to a living room near you, but first: my studio The Soda Plant for SEABA Art Hop! 🙌

Inspired by a set of antique wood blocks from Adelle Lawrence & taken to a whole new level thanks to:
>> my pattern-loving brain
>> my Dad Nicholas Andrews for helping prime the boards
>> Chad Chad Nichols for helping me brainstorm, build & install the peg rails
>> my fabulous studio mate Kristin McCole for taking so many great photos & cheering me on 🥹

This coat has serious main character energy.

Inspired by my love of Frog & Toad’s “The Lost Button” (IYKYK & check out what’s in the pocket), this piece is a celebration of the ordinary.

I emphasized my bold, simple, slightly rough-around-the-edges approach to design by choosing to focus on something as humble as a button. Each button was constructed by hand & then stitched onto this low-color, hand block-printed backdrop.
