Thanks so much to Dragonheart Vermont for once more having us on to Marshal for the annual Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival!

It’s always a great time on the docks helping folks get to their races, on such a wonderful sunny day - for such a great cause!

We’re looking forward to marshaling and paddle-rescuing next year!

Dragonheart Vermont and its Lake Champlain Dragonboat Fest

This year we had some members that would hop into boats with various teams - be that through work, clubs, friendships or any other number of reasons.

We even had two of our Women+ squad take home some hardware! Both Sau and Leslie won 2nd place in the A Division with Vermont Fitness!

It was ‘Rugby Christmas’ this past weekend in Saranac Lake and Lake Placid at the 53rd Can Ams Rugby Tournament!

BRFC Men+ took the leap into the club division, knowing it would be a tall order. It turned out to be just that, with a full day of gritty, defensive efforts. Not to mention some well strung together phases on offense that yielded some reward for all the grind.

Thank you to Bert for organizing our supporters who showed up, and a MASSIVE shout out to our friends from Rugby Puerto Rico who pulled on the plaid with us!

First up was the Carolina Storm, who executed their game plan. Run hard, stick tackles. Suck in opposition defense, and spin the ball wide. Class in, class out - aside the blemish of a strong, patient, offensive drive in the second half by BRFC, dotting down just outside the posts for an easy conversion added on for good measure.

Up next was the Kraken Rugby Touring Side, a group whose manners on the pitch as individuals were as mismatched as their jerseys. Stronger and faster than the Storm, the Kraken tore through BRFC’s defense, slinging insults along the way. BRFC kept a cool head and was able to grind out a try against the kaleidoscopic Kraken.

BRFC wasn’t just playing for themselves this weekend though!

Some players joined up with other UVM alumni to form the ‘Cold Hills Rugby Club’ (top), Old Breed Rugby (bottom), as well as To***co Road Rugby Club (not pictured).

Not to mention those who joined the Green Mountain Geezers O-45 squad (top) for some old boys matches on Friday, and our Women+ squad who once again joined up with Albany to form ‘The Burbany Mom Jeans’ (bottom) who went 2-1 on Saturday!

We even had some time to catch our Women+ squads last game!
