“DROP 50” is an unprecedented nationwide campaign to cut school drop out rates by 50% over the next five years in order to give every American child a chance to succeed. We challenge you and all non-federal officials, elected or appointed, as well as candidates for office, to pledge to reduce the drop out rate in your respective communities by 50% over the next five years. Drop 50 unites citizens

and public officials in a powerful coalition in support of true educational reform. Driven locally and connected to the nationwide movement, Drop 50 provides the accountability that communities demand of their officials. In taking this pledge, you commit, not to a specific plan to accomplish the goal, but rather that you will get the job done, however you, in your leadership capacity, best see fit. You put your name and reputation on the line publicly with a promise to get a bottom line result: a 50% reduction in the drop out rate in your community.
