Do your kids love to read?
I used to not like to read. When I became a mom for the first time 16 years ago, I started reading to my baby as a form of rest for me and entertainment for him. By the time I began homeschooling my three boys 12 years ago, I had fallen in love with reading. The closeness that we created cannot be undone, not even in these teenage years. I have used Sonlight curriculum for ten years and I am heading into year eleven. It is difficult for me to quickly state the unexpected benefits I have accumulated over the years. I can, however, state that I would have missed out on so much of my boys' growth and development if I didn't choose to create this closeness with them in our house and homeschool.

I highly recommend Sonlight to create a healthy, happy homeschool which is based on Christianity and an openness to knowing about other cultures and perspectives.

As a homeschooler I lead my kids into adulthood. It is my fervent desire to allow them to become who they were created to be. To do this I must continually remind myself to get out of their way. I stand back and watch as they learn about the things that interest them. I ask questions. I read with them. I discuss everything with them.

I answer their questions — even the difficult ones about my life that I am not proud of or the “birds and the bees” that I may not really want to talk about. In those moments I realize that they are asking because they need to know and I would rather be the one sharing this information with them.

What type of parent are you? Are you LEADING your kids into adulthood so that they are equipped with the tools to succeed? Or are you making other things a priority?

Either way, I highly recommend this program to anyone willing to do the work to Bloom&Grow into the person you were created to be.
