Sad day for all the kids in Georgia. The Senate never called HB 1023 to the floor for a vote and ended the session this year. Words can’t express my utter disappointment and disbelief that the Senate doesn’t value the importance of ending school shootings.
Call your representatives.
Call your senators.
Call the governor.
Call for change.

Cobb County Leadership at both the House and local levels have been the biggest opponents against HB1023 citing how complex they believe it will be to implement in their sprawling campuses. If you live in Cobb, we strongly urge you to reach out to your House and Senate leaders. They are not security professionals. They cannot make the decisions for you. Let’s leave the HOW up to the professionals. This could have been avoided, now that entire community is in shock….as if someone just
broke into their home for 12 minutes!
On the other end of the spectrum, yesterday Evolv stopped a gun from entering South Gwinnett HS. Stopped at the door. Child arrested. Crisis averted. Story over.
Parents, students shaken after 15-year-old arrested for bringing gun to a Cobb County high school For many families, the scare is hard to shake.

Principal credits weapons detector for finding gun in student's bag at South Gwinnett High School In a letter sent home to parents, Jordan said that the school's resource officer is working with local police to "address the matter."

HB 1023 passed unanimously out of the Public Safety Committee just a few minutes ago! Next step the Senate floor for another unanimous YES vote. If you’re reading this. Don’t stop now. Contact your Senators and tell them to Vote YES and have all of their colleagues do the same.

It worked, YOU all did it! Your outreach got us a hearing in the Senate, Monday 3/23 at 1pm!
This is OUR moment. This is YOUR moment. We need to engage everyone we know and ask them to come on Monday. Take the day off work…take off a half day, take a long lunch. whatever it takes to BE there. We need to fill that Senate committee room with 100 people. This WILL make a difference. This WILL save lives. This WILL make history.
