Interested in the UB Teach French program but don’t know much about Angers… here’s a few fun facts for you!
- Located in western France, in the Loire Valley, about 1.5 hours southwest of Paris by train.
- Home to the Château d’Angers, a massive medieval fortress with 17 towers
- The château houses the Apocalypse Tapestry, the largest medieval tapestry in the world
- A true university city, with over 40,000 students
- Very welcoming to international students and educators
- Regularly ranked among France’s best cities to live for quality of life
- Very walkable and bike-friendly
- Nicknamed “the green city” for its parks and sustainable initiatives
- Mild climate—warmer and sunnier than many northern French cities. Summers are generally very pleasant in Angers,
- Angers is often called “la douceur angevine” — the sweetness of Angers — referring to its relaxed pace and charm.
