Interested in the UB Teach French program but don’t know much about Angers… here’s a few fun facts for you!

- Located in western France, in the Loire Valley, about 1.5 hours southwest of Paris by train.

- Home to the Château d’Angers, a massive medieval fortress with 17 towers

- The château houses the Apocalypse Tapestry, the largest medieval tapestry in the world

- A true university city, with over 40,000 students

- Very welcoming to international students and educators

- Regularly ranked among France’s best cities to live for quality of life

- Very walkable and bike-friendly

- Nicknamed “the green city” for its parks and sustainable initiatives

- Mild climate—warmer and sunnier than many northern French cities. Summers are generally very pleasant in Angers,

- Angers is often called “la douceur angevine” — the sweetness of Angers — referring to its relaxed pace and charm.

Our five-week Angers summer program combines academic coursework with lived cultural experience in the heart of the Loire Valley. It’s designed for aspiring and current French educators, world language teachers, and graduate students interested in earning credits while deepening their practice.
