Northeast LMSA LMSA-Northeast is a 501(c)(3) student-run organization representing medical and allied health students from the Northeast region of the United States.

The Latino Medical Student Association-Northeast (LMSA-NE), formerly known as the National Boricua Latino Health Organization (NBLHO), is a Latino student group representing health professions students from the northeast region of the United States. Its mission is to recruit Latinos into higher education, educate the public and one another about Latino health issues, advocate for increased Latino

representation in health related areas, and promote awareness about social, political and economic issues as they relate to Latino health. It also serves to create a support network for Latino students.

LMSA-Northeast is proud to recognize Dr. Isabela Cajiao-Angelelli as our July Physician of the Month!

A pediatrician, educator, advocate, and leader in healthcare sustainability, Dr. Cajiao-Angelelli has built a career rooted in service, cultural humility, and the understanding that medicine extends far beyond the walls of a clinic.

Through her work in pediatric sedation, medical Spanish education, environmental sustainability, and mentorship, she continues to create meaningful change for patients, learners, and communities. Her journey reminds us to remain open to unexpected opportunities, embrace our unique backgrounds, and recognize how our passions can shape the physicians and leaders we become.

Thank you, Dr. Cajiao-Angelelli, for inspiring the next generation of Latino healthcare professionals and for demonstrating the power of empathy, curiosity, and human connection in medicine. 💙💛

🏆 JULY CHAPTER OF THE MONTH 🏆

Congratulations to Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth LMSA for earning this month’s spotlight! 💚💛

Over the past year, Geisel LMSA has focused on building community, celebrating Latino cultures, and fostering collaboration throughout the Geisel and Dartmouth-Hitchcock community. From monthly Cafecitos and chapter happy hours to M1 recruitment activities and an Identity Groups Celebration Dinner in partnership with APAMSA, SNMA, and SAMSA, the chapter continues to create meaningful spaces for connection and belonging.

Their impact was especially evident during Hispanic Heritage Month, when they hosted a Big Cafecito, welcomed a keynote speaker, and organized their annual Mercadito. Members prepared traditional dishes representing their countries and shared their cultures with the broader Geisel community.

We are so proud to celebrate their dedication to cultural representation, collaboration, and community-building. Keep creating inclusive spaces, strengthening connections, and advancing the LMSA mission! 🌟
