Tomorrow Sharon and Sarah will be attending the Buffalo Poverty Research Workshop. The workshop offers an opportunity to hear about new and ongoing research, promising strategies, and opportunities for collaboration. We will post more after the event! http://www.buffalo.edu/news/releases/2013/02/027.html

Ever driven by the Gate House on the corner of Getzville Road and Main Street and wondered about the story behind its walls? Yesterday, Caroline Duax of Amherst shared the joys and challenges of restoring this 193 year home back to its original splendor. Caroline utilized Buffalo Re-Store for building materials and houseware, worked with a preservation architect to maintain the original structural integrity, took advantage of fallen trees to make her furniture and installed eco-friendly appliances. Duax and her husband are now lucky enough to call the Gate House home. Here at the CSCCE, we call it a sustainability haven!

Here at Daemen College, our students understand the value of learning both in the classroom and out in the community. Last Saturday, seven accounting majors performed service learning through VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) by preparing taxes for some very grateful community members. The event was sponsored by Erie County Legislator Lynn Marinelli.
