Learning the morphology of words has been one of my favorite parts of my science of reading journey!

So come nerd out with me on this special TWOsday!

Two is derived from the Old English word twa where the w was pronounced. The w in two now shows it relationship to other words meaning two.

Do you have a struggling reader in your class? Of course you do! We all do!

Phonemic awareness is key towards proficient reading. There can be gaps in any age child, even high schoolers and adults!

As an interventionist, I do phonemic awareness with many of my groups. We manipulate the sounds in words with varying degrees of complexity. This helps the students to focus on the sounds in words and will help them to connect those phonemes (sounds) to graphemes (letters) when reading.

I’m seeing incredible growth and thank phonemic awareness for part of that success.

🎉Exciting news friends! I started a blog!🎉

This is something I have been wanting to do since I first started out as a teacher. I love to nerd out about all things teaching and this blog will allow me to expand on the topics I share on Facebook and Instagram.

Blogging is a whole new world for me and I'm definitely learning as I go. This post took me two weeks to complete!😳
