The BPS Family & Community Engagement Department will be hosting a food drive of non-perishable goods from December 1st through December 12th!

Goods can be dropped off at one of the four BPS Family Resource Centers, Mondays - Thursdays from 10:00am-7:00pm.

Context Behind The Art

My name is Lian Kham Thang and I am competing in this year CYONA art contest from
Buffalo, New York. I would like to thank each and all of you for this opportunity to showcase the
talents of Chin youths in USA. The contest will not only be a place to showcase talents for the
artists but it will also teach us about what is actually happening in Myanmar at the moment. For someone who spent half of my life in Myanmar, it breaks my heart to see young men, women and students sacrificing theirs precious an innocent lives for the brighter future for the future generations.

That being said, I would like to give a little bit of an explanation on my artwork. I choose a
female as my character in my painting. I choose that because I would like to pay tribute to the
fallen heroes of women who sacrifices their life together with men to fight against the military coup. For so long, especially in Myanmar women are not seen as an important figures because of ours traditions and culture. Most Burmese think women are less than men and they are capable of achieving especially in politics. However that belief was proven wrong by our precious leader Aung San Suu Kyi. Matter fact the first person to give life during the protest against the military coup was a young woman. That is the main reason that I choose a female as my main character. This is my way of honoring them.

I chose a pitch black background to represent the current state Myanmar is in. The internet
was cut off, phone cards price skyrocketed, the inflation is going up rapidly and covid is taking lives every single day. The situation is Myanmar couldn’t be any darker than that. To represent that darkness I chose black background and the girl drowning in that darkness. The metal ball and steel chain represent the military and the horrors they inflicted among the citizens of Myanmar and there seem to be no hope at all for them. People are dying while trying from covid as well as in the hand of military. This is the meaning behind my painting and I did my best for the viewers to get the same messages when they look at my paining.

ကျနော်တို့ရဲ့မြန်မာ့နွေဦး ပညာရေးအစီစဉ် အတွက် ဒီအပါတ်က နောက်ဆုံးအပါတ်ပဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်!!!!

တက်ရောက်ကြတဲ့ ကျောင်းသူကျောင်းသားများ အားလုံးနဲ့ မိဘများ မိသားစုများအားလုံးကိုလဲကျေးဇူးတင်ပါတယ်!!!

ပညာရေးအစီစဉ်ဖြစ်မြောက်ရေးအတွက် မေတ္တာဖြင့်ပါဝင်ဆောင်ရွက်ပေးကြတဲ့ အမေရိကားတခွင်မှ ဆရာ ဆရာမများ လုပ်အားပေးများနဲ့ မြန်မာပြည်တွင်းမှ လုပ်အားပေးများအားလုံးကိုလည်း အထူးပဲကျေးဇူးတင်ရှိပါတယ်!!!

ကျနော်တို့ နောက်ထပ်ပညာရေးအစီအစဉ်များ ဆက်လက်ဆောင်ရွက်နိုင်ရန်လည်း ကျိုးစားဆောင်ရွက်နေပါတယ်!!

အောက်ပါလင့်ခ်ကတော့ ကျောင်းသားများ မိဘများ ဆရာဆရာမများ လုပ်အားပေးများ နောက်ဆုံးတွေ့ဆုံနှုတ်ဆက် သုံးသပ်ချက် အကြံညဏ် ဝေဖန်မှူများပေးနိုင်ရန်အတွက်ဖြစ်ပါတယ်!!

မဖြေဖြစ်ခဲ့သူများအတွက် test ပြန်လည် တငိပေးမည်ဖြစ်ပါသည်!!

K-1 အတွက် မြန်မာစာအတန်းတစ်တန်းတိုးထားပါတယ်။
၂-၃ အတွက် သိပ္ပံအတန်းကို ၂ တန်းခွဲပြီး အင်္ဂလိပ်လို သီးသန့်နဲ့ မြန်မာဘာသာပြန်နဲ့အတန်းဆိုပြီး ၂ မျိုးခွဲထားပါတယ်။
၄-၅ အတန်းအတွက် သင်္ချာ အင်္ဂလိပ်စာ စစ်ဖို့တင်ထားပါတယ်။
၆-၇ တန်းအတွက်တော့ အင်္ဂလိပ်စာ သဒ္ဒါနဲ့ အဖတ်စွမ်းရည် စစ်ဆေးဖို့လင့်ခ်တင်ထားပါတယ်။
