Right after graduating from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Mathematics, I took my first teaching job at Saint James School, a boarding school in Hagerstown, MD. At 22 years old, I was a teacher, coach, mentor, dorm parent, trip leader, and more. I learned so much from my students and the incredible community around me. I spent five wonderful years there and even got to watch my first 8th grade class graduate High School. Looking back, I couldn’t have asked for a better place to begin my teaching and coaching career.

Hello Everyone! My name is Joanna Ruderman, and I’m an experienced in-home and online private Math Tutor currently based in the West Valley area of Arizona. I’m passionate about education—especially when it comes to helping students build confidence in their math skills.
With 15 years of experience teaching middle and high school math in Maryland, Alaska, and abroad in the United Arab Emirates and Israel, I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide variety of students from diverse backgrounds. Whether in a classroom or one-on-one, I love seeing the progress students can make in a short amount of time when given the right support.
