Next in our Teacher Appreciation Week series — our afterschool teams: Alebrijes, Dragones de Seeley St, Dragones de Vanderbilt St, Español Studio, Súper Grupo & Súper Grupo Forever.

Every afternoon, they create something that matters more than it might seem: a place where children feel truly welcome, where the school day doesn't just end but continues in the best possible way — all of it learning Spanish. For some, a return to their preschool community. For others, a brand new adventure. Joyful, fun, and full of belonging. The kind of place kids actually want to be. We find that remarkable.

Alice, Belén, Carolina, Cati, Chelsea, Elvira, Gaia, Ian, Jesica, Marixsa. Gracias 💛

Alice, Belén, Carolina, Cati, Chelsea, Elvira, Gaia, Ian, Jesica, Marixsa. Gracias. 💛

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week and we're celebrating the people who make OWP what it is. We feel really lucky to have the team we have — and we are so grateful for every single one of them.

First in our series: our infant, toddler & preschool teams — Arroyo, Río, Bosque, Bosque Arriba, Aire, Aire Arriba, Mar, Montañas & Valle.

For so many children, these are their earliest school experiences. The foundation. Here they begin to discover the world, explore their own identity, and celebrate diversity. Here they learn that a community can be warm, joyful, and fair. What these teams give is extraordinary.
Alexandra, Ana, Aneli, Angie, Arielle, Danella, Divina, Dubraska, Elizabeth, Gissela, Irene, Kate, Kenia, Keyla, Laura, Maika, Maria, Marixsa, Marta, Mery, Michelle, Michelle Yadira, Miriam, Montse, Nizza, Silvana y Stefany.

Gracias 💛

❄️ We have had a clear protagonist these days: the snow.
Across our grounds, children have been climbing new summits, digging tunnels, shoveling together, and moving heavy snow. They have built structures, tested balance, taken risks, and trusted soft landings.
Up close, they explored winter in nature. Inside, they continued the investigation — watching snow melt, spraying color, and observing transformation in real time as solid slowly becomes liquid.
Across all ages and programs, the snow invited movement, curiosity, collaboration, and discovery.
Cold. Wet. Inconvenient.
And still, one of our greatest teachers.

❄️

It was pure joy — witnessing each child discover their own language of expression during our Taller de Arte Global.

Inspired by Tschabalala Self, Arielle Spivack, Sophie Rivera, Mark Rothko, Louise Bourgeois, and Robert Rauschenberg, campers explored collage, painting, photography, multimedia, installation, and printmaking — engaging with color, texture, light, clay, fabric, relief, image transfer — and possibility.

Throughout the week, art became both mirror and window: a way to see themselves and understand others. Through open-ended invitations and process-based exploration, children built confidence, agency, and voice.

Gracias, campers, for your artistic courage, your curiosity, and your joy. Expression belongs to everyone.
