More in our series of docent led tours of NYC Museums. This was a visit to the Met's African arts gallery. We learned that for the Greeks and Romans, beauty was often tied to realism and mathematical perfection. In many African traditions, the goal wasn't to "copy" a human body, but to represent a spiritual concept or an ancestral presence.

This exhibition, entitled Buddha and Shiva, Lotus and Dragon, celebrates Asia Society's 70th anniversary with 70 of the finest works from the permanent collection. Our tour was led by a very informative docent from the museum.

BLL's end of year party attended by about 100 of our members. Food, beverages, desserts and a folk dancing demonstration all contributed to a festive atmosphere.

Residents packed the Salt Marsh Nature Center, at 3302 Avenue U, to hear Brooklyn Borough Historian and esteemed member of Brooklyn Lifelong Learning Ron Schweiger recount Brooklyn’s 1898 merger with New York City at an event sponsored by the Salt Marsh Alliance, Inc. on Sunday, November 2nd.

As part of our Museum Walks & Talks program we visited the Morgan Library and Museum. Highlights included the Renoir Drawings exhibit and the The Psalms in Medieval Art and Life exhibit. A museum docent led our tour enhancing our appreciation of the art. Here are some photos from that outing

Continued education for seniors can have numerous benefits. It can help individuals stay mentally active and engaged, potentially reducing the risk of cognitive decline. It can also provide a sense of purpose and meaning, as well as opportunities for socialization and connection with others. Continuing education can also help seniors stay up-to-date on current events and advances in their fields of interest, and may even lead to new career opportunities or the ability to pursue new hobbies. Overall, continued education can help seniors maintain a sense of vitality and purpose as they age.
