Last week, despite freezing temperatures, Pear Essence Street Outreach took place during Human Trafficking Awareness Month, braving the cold to meet people where they are.
We are deeply grateful to our partners at the NYPD, Brooklyn DA’s Office, and the dedicated Salvation Army volunteers who made this outreach possible!

January is National Slavery & Human Trafficking Prevention Month.
This month is dedicated to increasing public awareness of modern-day slavery, deepening understanding of how exploitation occurs, and highlighting prevention-focused, trauma-informed responses. Ending trafficking requires more than awareness alone. It calls for education, community engagement, accountability, and sustained action.
Throughout the month, PEARL Essence will share educational content, prevention insights, and reflections rooted in dignity, safety, and survivor-centered care.
Prevention begins with understanding and understanding begins with awareness.
