Seven34 Films is an independent film production company started in 2009 by filmmakers Andrew Cohn, Davy Rothbart and Rachel Dengiz.
ANDREW COHN is a screenwriter and documentary filmmaker living in Brooklyn, New York. His first feature-length film MEDORA, produced by Steve Buscemi and Stanley Tucci, premiered at the 2013 SXSW Film Festival and was featured on PBS' critically acclaimed "Independent Lens" series. In 2008, Cohn optioned his first screenplay DOWNRIVER to Paramount Pictures, and later directed the documentary-short
DYNAMIC TOM, which was featured on McSweeney's Wholphin No. 12 DVD of short films. He is the creator and producer of the off-Broadway play FOUND: PEOPLE FIND STUFF. NOW IT'S A SHOW, and most recently directed the documentary KID DANNY for ESPN Films "30 for 30" series. He has written and directed material off-Broadway, for Comedy Central, Fuse and is currently working on his next documentary, NIGHT SCHOOL. RACHEL DENGIZ began her career working for independent filmmaker Jim Jarmusch, where she served as an associate producer on COFFEE & CIGARETTES and production associate on BROKEN FLOWERS. She has directed two documentaries and produced multiple music videos. She recently produced THE PUNK SINGER and MEDORA – which both premiered at the 2012 South by Southwest Film Festival, MEDORA was released on PBS' Independent Lens, and THE PUNK SINGER was released by Sundance Selects/IFC. She previously served as an Executive for Olive Productions (Wren Arthur, Steve Buscemi & Stanley Tucci’s production company), and served as co-producer on the Emmy Nominated PARK BENCH web series for AOL, directed by Steve Buscemi. Rachel's recent credits include the narrative feature KEEP IN TOUCH, and two shorts: HIGH PHANTOM PLAYBACK; and SAND CASTLE. She just wrapped production on Theresa Rebeck's narrative feature POOR BEHAVIOR, and is currently producing a documentary directed by Sara Driver about the art world, and a documentary on Detroit rapper Danny Brown directed by Andrew Cohn, as well as Hanna Beth King's narrative feature DIRT ROADS. DAVY ROTHBART is the creator and editor of FOUND Magazine, author of My Heart is an Idiot, a book of personal essays, and The Lone Surfer of Montana, Kansas, a collection of stories, and a frequent contributor to public radio’s "This American Life". Rothbart’s work also appears in GQ, The New Yorker, The New York Times, and Grantland. He's directed two documentaries about the punk rock band Rise Against, videos for Dan Savage's It Gets Better Project, and two other documentaries now in post-production. In 2010, the film EASIER WITH PRACTICE, adapted from one of his GQ articles, and starring Brian Geraghty (FLIGHT, THE HURT LOCKER) as Davy, won the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature.
