I hope you’re having a marvelous May so far.
I have some important news to share with you all: today, May 12th, will be my last day as Executive Director of Brooklyn Psychedelic Society. I have had my heart set on other areas I’d like to explore for a few years now, and after ~11 years in the psychedelic space (6 years as a community organizer, 5 years as the executive director in a full-time capacity), I felt like it was time for me to move on.
After today, I am excited to share that Missi Wooldridge, MPH, will be stepping up as our Interim Executive Director. I have been working closely with Missi since last July shortly after Psychedelic Science 2025 and have been continuously impressed with her knowledge, passion, vision, and skill in bringing something like BPS and our Trellis framework most fully to life. I hope you’ll join me in welcoming her (you can clap at your computer/phone if you’d like). I am very excited for her leadership and maybe have seen her cry in excitement for Trellis and BPS more than once. I am looking forward to the community getting to know her more.
It’s been an honor and joy to serve as the leader of BPS for 10 out of its ~11 years of existence and to have founded the 501(c)(3) in 2021. I’ve met so many incredible, kind, passionate, heart centered people in the community. I want to thank all staff, volunteers, facilitators, our board and donors who have helped make BPS what it is today.
(longer version with specific shoutouts sent via email!)
I won’t be a complete stranger and I am excited for what’s in store for BPS. Missi and the Board have a lot of exciting things planned that they will be announcing when the time is ripe.
Take care, be well, and stay trippy

Why the Future of Psychedelics Actually Isn’t Clinical
Nearly 95% of psychedelic use in the U.S. already happens outside clinical settings—we should be building for that reality.
Written by Brooklyn Psychedelic Society’s Executive Director, Colin Pugh, for DoubleBlind, this piece explores what gets overlooked when psychedelics are funneled primarily into clinical systems, and what community-based models might offer instead.
As Colin emphasizes, healing isn’t just clinical, it’s cultural, relational, and deeply human.

🌿 A New Series with the Psychedelic Yoga Research Collective ⛅
We’re teaming up with the Psychedelic Yoga Research Collective to explore how breath, vibration, and sensory awareness shape presence, perception, and connection.
Here’s what we have planned 👇
🌬️Psychedelic Breathing: March 8th at 3pm
Join Henry Kandel (author of Yoga of the Ketamine State) for a practical toolkit of breath practices drawn from traditional pranayama and adapted for psychedelic work.
👤Vibrations in the Body: April 11th at 3pm
Discover how vibration moves through the body and shifts consciousness with guided resonance and sound practices.
🌟Yoga of the Senses: May 14th at 7pm
Sharpen sensory awareness as both preparation for psychedelic experience and a direct gateway to non-ordinary states.
💫 We hope these gatherings offer space for curiosity, presence, and connection. ✨
