Join us on Saturday August 29 · 6–7:45pm · Bushwick
Presented by the P$ychede!ic Yoga Research Collective in collaboration with Brooklyn Psychedelic Society🪞✨Ticket link in bio!

An evening of guided mirror practice in front of a thirty-two-foot mirror wall. Breath, movement, and gaze, in three arcs: each one settles the body, then meets your own eyes, then moves into somatic self-soothing. We close with yoga nidra in a darkened room and a period of writing.

Most of us look in a mirror many times a day and rarely with kindness.

No substances. Breath, attention, and a mirror.

This is the final phase of the Mirror Project, designed by Patrick Doerksen—solo practice, then small groups, and now a full room. An optional self-compassion measure runs before and after, so the evening is also original research you’re taking part in.

Tomorrow, Tuesday August 4th in Brooklyn, with Brooklyn Balance! Link in bio✨

Have you ever said yes when your body was screaming no?

Or found yourself going along with others because it felt easier than holding your ground?

Have you ever tried to share something important, and watched the conversation get pulled right back to the other person, every single time?

Whatever we haven’t worked out around consent and boundaries doesn’t disappear in an altered state. It gets louder. P$ychede!is amplify everything…including the patterns we haven’t named yet.

This is true whether you’re a client learning to trust your own “no” in the room with a facilitator, or a facilitator who sometimes loses their own when a client pulls them into theirs.

P$ychede!ic Consent is a small, intimate workshop, designed to go deep on exactly this. We’ll work with real scenarios, practice boundary language, explore where your own consent patterns show up, and build the skills to hold the frame when things get intense.

I hope you’re having a marvelous May so far.

I have some important news to share with you all: today, May 12th, will be my last day as Executive Director of Brooklyn Psychedelic Society. I have had my heart set on other areas I’d like to explore for a few years now, and after ~11 years in the psychedelic space (6 years as a community organizer, 5 years as the executive director in a full-time capacity), I felt like it was time for me to move on.

After today, I am excited to share that Missi Wooldridge, MPH, will be stepping up as our Interim Executive Director. I have been working closely with Missi since last July shortly after Psychedelic Science 2025 and have been continuously impressed with her knowledge, passion, vision, and skill in bringing something like BPS and our Trellis framework most fully to life. I hope you’ll join me in welcoming her (you can clap at your computer/phone if you’d like). I am very excited for her leadership and maybe have seen her cry in excitement for Trellis and BPS more than once. I am looking forward to the community getting to know her more.

It’s been an honor and joy to serve as the leader of BPS for 10 out of its ~11 years of existence and to have founded the 501(c)(3) in 2021. I’ve met so many incredible, kind, passionate, heart centered people in the community. I want to thank all staff, volunteers, facilitators, our board and donors who have helped make BPS what it is today.

(longer version with specific shoutouts sent via email!)

I won’t be a complete stranger and I am excited for what’s in store for BPS. Missi and the Board have a lot of exciting things planned that they will be announcing when the time is ripe.

Take care, be well, and stay trippy

Why the Future of Psychedelics Actually Isn’t Clinical

Nearly 95% of psychedelic use in the U.S. already happens outside clinical settings—we should be building for that reality.

Written by Brooklyn Psychedelic Society’s Executive Director, Colin Pugh, for DoubleBlind, this piece explores what gets overlooked when psychedelics are funneled primarily into clinical systems, and what community-based models might offer instead.

As Colin emphasizes, healing isn’t just clinical, it’s cultural, relational, and deeply human.

🌬️ What is Shamanic Breathwork and why is it so powerful? 🌿

In this clip, Rob Heffernan shares what to expect at our upcoming Shamanic breathwork event on February 19th. This is a space to explore healing, emotional release, and expanded states of awareness through the power of your own breath.

Rob brings over 20 years of experience in sacred medicine traditions. He is a certified Shamanic Breathwork Facilitator and Sound Practitioner, Chair of the Chacruna Institute for Psychedelic Plant Medicine, and a long-time practitioner of Buddhist Dharma.

The evening will begin with a sound meditation, followed by a full hour of guided breathwork, and close with integration time to help you ground and reflect.

This practice is powerful, transformative, and accessible. Whether you’re new to breathwork or experienced, you’re invited to come with intention and curiosity.

Come journey with us and connect with others Thursday, March 26th at 7pm!
