Great Early Intervention isn't just about what's in your bag, it's about knowing how to use it. Here are 3 must-have tools every EI provider should have.

🧸 A toy bag with purpose
Not just random toys. EI providers need simple, flexible items that support real goals: bubbles for communication, blocks for motor planning, books for language, stacking toys for problem-solving, and pretend-play items for social skills.

👀 A strong observation eye
One of the best tools is knowing what to notice: how a child moves, communicates, plays, responds to sounds, handles transitions, follows routines, and connects with caregivers. Great providers see the small signs that guide big progress.

👨‍👩‍👧 Family coaching skills
Early Intervention works best when caregivers can carry strategies into everyday routines. A provider's ability to model, explain, encourage, and make therapy feel doable at home is one of the most powerful tools they have.

At the end of the day, the best tools aren't just what you carry, they're what you know how to do with them.

Autism is more than social discomfort.

When a child seems uncomfortable around others, it's natural for parents to wonder why. You hear more about autism today, and it's easy to ask, "Could that be what I'm seeing?"

The truth is, the two can look similar on the surface, but they're not the same thing.

🔹 Social discomfort often looks like nervousness, hesitation, or just needing time to warm up in new situations.
🔹 Autism involves a broader, ongoing pattern of differences in communication, interaction, routines, interests, or sensory responses.

The key is looking at the pattern over time, not a single moment.

If you're noticing signs that feel bigger than shyness, a professional evaluation can bring clarity and guide the next steps. White Glove Therapy is here to help.

What causes stuttering in children? It's one of the most common questions we hear from parents, and the truth is, there is rarely just one cause.

Stuttering often develops between ages 2 and 5, right when children are building their speech and language skills fastest. For some kids, it fades on its own. For others, it's connected to a few key factors:

🗣️ Family history or genetics
🗣️ Speech and language development
🗣️ Differences in how the brain coordinates speech
🗣️ Developmental delays or other communication challenges
🗣️ Neurological changes or injury in some cases
🗣️ Stress or pressure that may make stuttering more noticeable

It's important to know that stuttering is not caused by nervousness, poor parenting, or anything a child or family did wrong.

What helps most isn't correcting the stutter, it's how you respond to it. A calm, patient environment gives kids the confidence to keep communicating instead of holding back. A few ways to support your child in the moment:

💙 Listen patiently
💙 Let them finish their thought
💙 Keep eye contact
💙 Avoid interrupting
💙 Try not to say "slow down" or "start over" too often
💙 Use a calm, relaxed speaking style
💙 Focus on what they're saying, not how perfectly they say it

She already had her license. Her master's degree. Years of experience in the classroom.

She went back to school anyway.

Not because she had to. Because the children she works with deserved a provider who never stops growing.

Teresita Dela Cruz — Miss Lana to every child she has ever worked with — is a Special Instruction provider at White Glove Therapy & Education. And her story is one of the most quietly powerful ones we have heard.

Read it at the link in bio.
