It's important to vet potential connections before sending a request. Here are a few things to be mindful of:
โข Do you have anything in common, such as location, experience, groups, or related fields?
โข Are they active on LinkedIn?
โข Does this person have the skills or experience that could be valuable to you?
โข Would you be interested in collaborating with them in the future?
๐ If you answered yes to most of these questions, then it's worth sending a connection request. But if not, it's probably best to move on. ๐
Here are some additional tips for vetting potential connections:
1. Take a look at their profile. What do they do for a living? What are their skills and experience? What are their interests?
2. Check their activity. How often do they post on LinkedIn? Do they engage with other users?
3. See if you have any mutual connections. This can be a good indication that you have something in common.
By taking the time to vet potential connections, you can build a stronger network of people who can help you achieve your professional goals.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on vetting potential connections. Have you ever had a bad experience with a connection you didn't vet properly? Or, have you ever made a valuable connection because you took the time to vet them?
Try out these tips for yourself and let me know how it goes!

I used to feel like I wasn't making any progress on LinkedIn. Even though I was posting regularly, I was worried that I was just talking to myself.
Then I realized that I was actually reaching people who were going through the same things I was. I was connecting with people who were interested in the same things I was, and I was making a difference.
If you're feeling stuck on LinkedIn, don't give up. Keep posting, keep sharing, and keep connecting. You never know who you might reach and who will benefit from hearing your message.

Quick fixes aren't sustainable. If you're looking to improve your LinkedIn profile, it's important to take a holistic approach. Consider your overall goals, your target audience, and the content you're sharing. By taking the time to do things that work for you you'll be more likely to see lasting results.

If you're looking to communicate your unique value, showing off your awards and recognitions on LinkedIn goes a long way.
Not sure how or where to do this on your profile?
Here are 3 places to add them to your profile:
1. The Featured Section - recently received a top honor that you're proud of and want others to know about? Add it here where it's visible near the top of your profile.
2. Your Experience - have you been recognized for your hard work and contributions at work? Mention it in the description of that particular role. Or even add a picture of yourself receiving the award.
3. Honors & Awards - List each recognition separately and make sure to tie it to the specific position or organization that celebrated you.
Feel like adding your recognition in 3 places is overkill?
On LinkedIn, repetition is okay. People need multiple touchpoints before information sinks in. So if they keep scrolling by your Featured section, they have at least two more places to see all the great things you're doing. And because everyone absorbs information differently, each one of these areas gives you a competitive edge and allows you to reach more people.

Yes, there is usually at least one connecting thread that gets me genuinely excited to get to know you better. And since everyone is unique in their own way, the connecting thread between us is unique too.
Here are some relatable attributes and experiences I look for as I scroll through profiles:
โข Are we in the same geographic location
โข Do we have any mutual connections
โข Are we in the same or a related field
โข Did we go to the same school
โข Have you shared any personal or professional experiences that I can relate to
โข Do we share any similar interests (groups, causes, topics)

Don't let anyone make you feel bad for being yourself. You are unique and special, and that's something to be celebrated. โจ
