Educators, it’s time to reflect and take action! 📚✨ Have you read “Punished for Dreaming” by Bettina Love? This powerful book dives deep into how our choices in education have shaped the current political landscape, paving the way for harmful agendas.

It’s crucial that we understand the implications of our decisions and stand against a white nationalist agenda that threatens inclusivity and equity. Let’s foster critical conversations and empower our students to dream freely. Together, we can turn the tide and create a brighter, more just future. 🌍💪

True story.
As an educator, many of my friends would pick my brain about schools before enrolling their kids.
Honestly, I would rave about the academics but most times I would say “sadly Black kids aren’t safe in school”
This weeks headlines is exactly tells this story…
Black kids are often humiliated, talked down to, shunned and punished for being vocal, expressive or for simply showing emotion.
This isn’t happening everywhere but it’s happening.

Happy National Coming Out Day! Every year on October 11th, the LGBTQ community celebrates and supports LGBTQ people coming out of the closet. It is a day for proudly living your truth and celebrating LGBTQ freedom – so don’t forget to celebrate today!

And while we should acknowledge how far the acceptance of LGBTQ people has come, it’s important to remember the members of our community that are not able to safely come out of the closet. Too many LGBTQ people still fear rejection or harm should they choose to live openly - and too many governmental bodies are still trying to legislate LGBTQ people out of existence. In 2021 and 2022, groundbreaking numbers of anti-trans and anti-LGBTQ bills were introduced in state legislatures around the country, with most of the bills criminalizing trans healthcare services, banning trans students from school sports or severely limiting safe spaces for LGBTQ kids.
Support our youth by providing space for them to live freely🌈

The need for decolonizing is not a trend; it’s a movement. It needs to continue to happen because the POWERS that be Rufus’s to tell the truth.

Happy Black History Month!
These last few years have been rough on the Diaspora but we prevail!

I recently read a quote from that read “You were a genius from the start and you know what the world does to Black geniuses--it exceptionalizes them, co-opts them, steals from them, discards them, then kills the”

Tho we celebrate our greatness everyday,February is the start to a larger BLACKER celebration

In 2020, many of us dedicated ourselves to diversifying the canon of literature that we read, love and teach.
How many of us are still doing the work?
The imaginary CRT controversy has thrown us back in time. Has many debating what is suitable to read and what’s not.
But there are few white authors up for debate. Consequently, there are plenty of BIPOC authors suffering in this debacle.
By design?
However, authors aren’t the only ones suffering.
Everyone suffers when we are confined to boxes, underrepresented and lied to.
Are you still reading Only white authors?
