Whether you’re a political ju**ie or new to the scene, this event is perfect for anyone interested in learning more about how our society work and making change. The headlines are crazy. The world feels heavy. Most of us haven’t really thought about how the government works since School House Rock. Take a break from dissociating for an evening of community and conversation. Join Roots to Revolution for a chill, free, back-to-basics workshop to make sense of the political chaos and learn how to get involved! See you there!

This Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We will be honoring him and the thousands of civil rights activists who fought for us by coming together in community to talk about organizing for our rights today. Many people are feeling tired and exhausted of a news cycle dominated by Donald Trump. The antidote to hate is love, community, joy, and resistance. Come join us for a conversation and some good food this Monday! Lasting change takes time and we can do this together.

Being in education is sometimes a thankless job, but every once in a while, we get these magical reminders that our work is worth it. When teaching AP US history, I constantly stressed the importance of voting. I reminded my students that it was not the only tool to use their voice but one of the most fundamental. When they turned 18, I gave them a birthday card and voter registration form. I found out this week that one of my former juniors majored in US history and African studies and now will be teaching AP Government at the high school I used to teach at. I got to see her briefly during her teacher training, and I asked, "Are you going to register your students to vote?" She said, "I am not sure if I am going to do it on the first day or the second day of school." Her conviction filled me with joy.
This beautiful moment reminded me that our impact as educators is exponential, and talking to our students about their power in elections truly matters. Please join me on the 20th to discuss how we can engage our students in this election and help them be civically engaged for life. Teachers, your conversations with students have a lasting impact!

Every week, we absorb "unprecedented" news. In times like these, it is critical that we don't disengage but strategically engage and use our gifts to fight for our rights. I am facilitating a course on using mindfulness to help us become focused and healthy activists this election season.
I use the word facilitating rather than teaching because I am personally and humbly on this journey as well. However, I am very excited to do this work with others. In unprecedented times, we need community. I hope these sessions can bring us a deep sense of community in fighting for justice.

One of the best antidotes to anxiety is meaningful action. If we all take small actions within our communities to amplify our voices and the vote we will create a massive movement. In this series we will talk about how we are going to take action to get the outcomes we need this November while leaving behind anxiety, despair and hopelessness. Let's do this!

Mr. Trump, as one journalist described it, “could not keep a straight thought” and was “all over the map.” Yet expectations for him are so low that if he doesn’t literally light himself on fire on Thursday evening, some will say he was downright presidential.
Opinion | Hillary Clinton: I’ve Debated Trump and Biden. Here’s What I’m Watching For.
Going head-to-head with the former president is like juggling nonsense, blather and bluster.
