Langston Hughes (1902–1967) was a key Harlem Renaissance poet and writer, known for celebrating Black life and culture. His famous works include The Negro Speaks of Rivers and Mother to Son.

Langston Hughes' portraits were created by 4th graders using oil pastels, tissue paper, and a spray bottle.
