We've opened our classrooms to some crawling critters: caterpillars have arrived at KSK! Children are loving this springtime study, and have been practicing using their "scientist eyes." We're making observations about what we see, drawing pictures of the caterpillars, and talking about what will happen next when they grow into chrysalises!

Last week, we began our spring enrichment residency with ! Children were so excited to meet Coach Seth. During this first session, he taught them how to focus movement from specific parts of their body (like kicking with your "shoelaces" while your toe is pointing to the ground). We're looking forward to a SUPER season!

We had an amazing time celebrating Spirit Week at KSK last week! We wore our class colors, went wild on Tuesday Zoo Day, had a comfy cozy party on pajama day, got weird on wacky wardrobe day, and ended it all with KSK day, sporting our new hand made tie dye shirts. It was such a fun display of creativity, and wonderful way to welcome spring for staff and students alike!

Last week, KSK welcomed TWO new "junior directors": Nava and Josie! This honor was bestowed via auction as a part of our annual fundraising soirée. Both junior directors welcomed students at drop-off, and read a favorite story in some of the classrooms. They also helped us pass out fliers, and, most importantly, chose snack for the coming week. Thank you for keeping KSK running, Nava and Josie!

We have officially started our winter-long science specialty with Ms. Abby from the ! Children were especially excited to learn that the theme of the science classes is "Bug Out!"
On her first visit, Abby taught us about Ladybugs. We learned about how ladybugs start out very small and have to eat lots of leaves and flowers to grow into a beautiful black and red ladybug. Then we got to make our very own ladybugs!

Wishing all of our Kane Street community a very happy Hanukkah! We've been celebrating in school for the past few weeks with themed crafts and activities. Children also got the opportunity to connect with the synagogue, each class visited the sanctuary, and Reb Beni joined our 3s rooms this week to talk about Hanukkah and light the menorah. We finished our week by welcoming grown ups for our in-school Hanukkah parties, and children were so excited to share all of the things they do at school. Sending you light and joy this holiday season!
