It is with deep sadness that the Community of Archbishop Stepinac High School mourns the passing of former President Msgr. Anthony Marchitelli.
In September of 2003 Monsignor Marchitelli was appointed President of Archbishop Stepinac by Cardinal Egan. He served eight years as Stepinac’s eighth head of school and second president. Under his leadership in 2009, Stepinac became an independent high school in the Archdiocese of New York. Enrollment increased, academics flourished and athletics and the arts were nationally recognized.
After Stepinac Msgr. Marchitelli was made Pastor of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in the Bronx and remained there for four years. He then became the Pastor of St. James the Apostle Parish in Carmel NY.
Msgr. Marchitelli brought intelligence, loyalty and humor to the Stepinac Community and remained connected to and friends with the administration, faculty and staff throughout the years. He will forever be remembered as a treasured part of Stepinac’s legacy.

This weekend, the 8th grade graduates from their various new schools.
To paraphrase Marisa Petro, our former students have been the model of resilience throughout this pandemic.
We thank the schools across the Archdiocese for welcoming in our students, especially St. Benedict's School, Villa Maria Academy and St. Theresa School.
These schools made, an already difficult transition, a little bit easier.
