In every family, there are little words that only make sense inside your home… The way your child first said things before the world taught them “the right way.” Those small words don’t last forever, but they carry so much of who they were in that moment. The language of childhood is a custom keepsake from Miss Ginger’s art cart that turns those first words into simple, meaningful digital art you can print, frame or gift! What does music have in common with art for little artists?
This week, we explored that connection through three incredible pieces: Eine kleine Nachtmusik (A Little Night Music) by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi, and Flight of the Bumblebee by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.
As the music played, my little artists used only primary colors: red, yellow, and blue crayons…to express what they heard and felt!!! Along the way, they discovered that just like music blends notes and rhythms, colors can blend too. On their paper, red and yellow became orange, blue and yellow turned green, and red and blue created purple.
Even more special, some children began to see the music. We saw raindrops, waves, wind, and even a tornado come to life on the page.
Through this experience, they were not just coloring. They were listening, imagining, creating, and connecting. Music guided their hands, and art gave their ideas a voice.
It was such a joyful way to learn!! 🎶 🖼️ 🎨 It was a great week!!!

We continued our art journey today talking about Michelangelo and the Sistine chapel!! What struck me most today was not just what the children created, but how they thought!!
Most of the classes were introduced yesterday to the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, and instead of being shown how to recreate it, they made it their own! Some explored different vantage points, some translated ceiling shapes onto flat paper, and others even built meaning through folding and structure.
What I saw was more than art it was their observation, interpretation, and transformation! I never know what to expect when I teach a lesson and half the time they are teaching me!
This is what creativity looks like in early childhood. It isn’t about imitation; it’s about how children experience something, process it, and express it in ways that are their own!
As a teacher moments like this don’t come from step-by-step instruction. They come from thoughtful provocations, open-ended materials, and space for children to think independently!! Watching that unfold was incredibly special and a powerful reminder of why this kind of learning is so important! ~Miss Ginger’s Art Cart 💕
