One empty childcare space can cost you hundreds of dollars every week. And some of y’all have had the same three spaces open for months.

I’m not saying that to make you feel bad. I’m saying it because I’ve been there.

When I first opened my program, I created “Monday Tours.” Every Monday, I showed families around, answered questions, and thought a good tour would automatically lead to an enrollment.

Sometimes it did. A lot of times, it didn’t.

They would call.
They would tour.
They would say, “I love it!”
Then I would never hear from them again.

That taught me something nobody was talking about: getting attention is not the same as getting enrollments.

So I spent years paying attention to what made families choose, enroll, stay, and refer other families. I stopped doing random marketing and built an actual enrollment system.

Now, my program stays full without me constantly advertising openings and my waitlist stays at least six months long.

I know how discouraging it feels to have a beautiful program, love what you do, and still watch empty spaces eat into your income. But sometimes your program isn’t the problem.

The way families are moving through your enrollment process is.

Low enrollment does not mean your childcare program is failing. This may be the season to strengthen your systems, improve your environment, increase your visibility, and prepare for the families God is sending.

Side note: Don’t allow a slow season to make you question what God called you to build. Keep showing up, keep planting seeds, and keep providing excellence even when the rooms aren’t full yet. Your harvest has an appointed time. 🌱
