🎶 🏳️Staff Spotlight: Mrs. Courtney Harris! 🏳️🎶
Mrs. Harris serves as our Color Guard Director. She has been part of the Brighton Band staff for 16 years and, including her 4 years as a student, has a total of 20 years with the Brighton Band program. While her practical skills are in making our color guard shine, she also holds a Bachelor's degree in Mathematical Sciences from the University of Memphis, a Master's degree in Computer Science and Mathematical Instruction from Austin Peay State University, and has taught math at BHS since 2013. She currently teaches Honors Algebra 2 and Dual Enrollment Statistics. Her favorite part of working with our students is watching them grow and learn through band and seeing them develop life skills that carry far beyond the marching field. Her advice to students: "Do it tired. Everyone gets tired from working hard, but not everyone pushes through the fatigue. In the fatigue is where we grow and achieve." When not on the field or in the classroom, she enjoys reading all kinds of books, running 5ks and 10ks, and spending time with her husband and daughter. We are so grateful for everything she does for our band family! 🏳️ 🎶

Right now, the Boosters are raising funds to cover uniforms, equipment, and travel fees so that financial strain never keeps a kid from marching. Many of our current families are feeling the squeeze of rising costs. That's where our alumni family comes in.
