During our final elementary chapel, not only did we recap what we've learned about the Fruit of the Spirit over the course of the school year, but we took the opportunity to honor Dr. Kloosterhouse. While our guest of honor doesn't usually sport a priness tiara, she willingly played along!
Our fifth graders lead the student body in pledges and our school verse, and our 4th graders lead everyone in the Lord's Prayer. There was a 'passing-of-the-torch' from our current 5th grade leaders to our soon-to-be 5th grade leaders! We look forwad to their leadership in the fall!
We found out that one of Dr. K's favorite songs is "You Say" by Lauren Daigel, and so we sang and worshiped together.
The powerpoint recap had some fun Dr.K-inspired moments to help drive home the particular Fruit of the Spirit points, and then Mrs. Annas had the opportunity to speak about Dr. K. and present her with a special book - one that included student and staff pictures, personal notes, and well-wishes.

Mrs. Orcutt and the third grade class spent a full day in the one room Lyon School House in Brighton last week. The students were able to experience what life was like for third graders in 1855.
The students started the day with a formal greeting to their teacher, gathering when the school bell rang, read from old readers, recited tongue twisters, played field games, played with old games, answered math story problems on slate boards, wrote in cursive using ink wells, and ended the day singing “Oh Susanna”.

Middle School Takes on Cedar Point!
There was one thing noticeably missing last Friday morning—tardies!
Our middle school students arrived bright and early, ready for a day of adventure at Cedar Point. Apparently, the promise of roller coasters is all the motivation needed for a 7:00 a.m. arrival time!
Once the group arrived, students spent the day enjoying thrilling rides, making memories with friends, and soaking up every moment of fun together. From towering coasters to favorite attractions, there was no shortage of excitement throughout the park.
Before they knew it, the day had flown by, and it was time to head home with plenty of stories, laughs, and memories to share.
Experiences like these help build friendships, strengthen our school community, and create memories that last long after the school year ends.

Exploring Our Community: 2nd Grade Field Trip Adventure! Our 2nd graders recently spent the day discovering how their community works during their annual Brighton field trip!
Their first stop was the Genoa Township Fire Station and Town Hall, where students learned about local government, cast their votes, enjoyed lunch, and spent time at the park.
Next, they visited Buff City Soap in downtown Brighton, where they learned how bath bombs are made and even had the opportunity to decorate their own creations!
The adventure continued at Fifth Third Bank, where students learned about saving money, bank accounts, and even got a behind-the-scenes look at how the drive-through operates.
Of course, no field trip is complete without a sweet treat! The class enjoyed ice cream at Dairy Queen before tackling a scavenger hunt around Mill Pond.
Their final stop was Meijer, where students toured the store, explored several departments, peeked behind the scenes at the coolers and freezers, and learned how grocery pickup orders are fulfilled.
What a wonderful day of learning, exploration, and fun! We're grateful to all of the local businesses and community partners who helped make this experience so memorable for our students.

Last week, our 7th and 8th Grade Leadership Team stepped outside the classroom and into the community for a hands-on Missions Week focused on serving others and living out their faith.
Throughout the week, students:
- Helped with landscaping projects at a local senior living community.
- Organized books at Mission CRY Christian Resource Center that will be distributed to people around the world.
- Served alongside community partners at The Ivy Table, helping with outdoor projects while learning how local businesses can make a positive impact.
- Prepared and served lunch for the Cornerstone Church PrimeTimers senior group.
Led by Mr. Nestor, our Middle School Spiritual Director, the week was designed to help students take ownership of their faith through service.
"It was a student-focused serve week with one of the goals being to help students take ownership of serving, of their faith, and following Christ independently as they grow." — Mr. Nestor
We are incredibly proud of these students for their servant hearts, strong work ethic, and willingness to be the hands and feet of Jesus throughout our community.

Our 5th and 6th graders recently took their talents to Tap-In's for a day of mini golf, friendly competition, and plenty of fun. We won't say who won, but we're pretty sure everyone scored a hole-in-one when it came to making memories!

Congratulations to the Fogoros family who won the bid for the birthday party provided by Mrs. Cleveland and Mrs. Lorey at our most recent Auction in March!
The 3rd grade class enjoyed hobbing at the hobby-horse themed party, complete with cowboy hats, red bandanas, and of course ... hobby horses!
Thank you, Fogoros family, for your support of CCS!
