The CV School District paid approx $47,000 to TWO different law firms for the month of April alone. Part of their services were likely prep for the Fact Finding Hearing that took place in April. The Fact Finding Report is publicly available now (link in comments ⬇️) but the crazy thing is - the District is the one who requested Fact Finding, yet they didn’t even hold a vote to consider the Fact Finding Report 🤔 By not holding a vote, the district rejected the report. The CV Union on the other hand VOTED YES 💯 unanimously to accept the report in a true compromise to settle this contract.

‼️ CV custodians, maintenance and transportation service workers voted YES on the Fact Finding Report - an attempt by a neutral third party to help both sides reach a settlement.
The district has not yet held their vote.

There are too many instances to list of First Student’s negligence and misconduct. We can’t lower our standards, CV! NO SUBCONTRACTING! 🛑

“Detectives said Medlock, who worked as an aide for school bus contractor First Student and served a local school, became “physically and verbally abusive with multiple children who are special needs students.””

A Long Island school bus aide working for a contractor is charged with multiple counts of abusing students with special needs on his route.

“…a complaint from a mother regarding her five year old son who has autism. She says her child had been picked up from school an hour late by a First Student bus and when he didn’t return home at his normal time, she called First Student dispatch repeatedly, receiving different versions of where her son’s bus was. SPS has accepted bids for a new bus contract. This parent argues that the contract should not be awarded to First Student.

“After a three-day trial, jurors said First Student Inc. should pay the damages to Dylan Jackson, finding that the bus company was negligent by not providing its new driver with a route sheet instructing where the boy should have been dropped off.”

Jurors found the company negligent for letting a student off at the wrong corner, who was then struck and injured by a hit-and-run driver as he crossed the street.
