Kingslight Guitars

Kingslight Guitars John Kingslight is a Seattle area luthier building primarily acoustic guitars including bass, baritone and 12 string models. Custom inlay is also offered.

These are custom, handbuilt to order using the finest in tonewoods, trims and hardware. I've began building acoustic guitars in 1980 working with John Dillon in his Northern New Mexico shop. John had been a student of Max Krimmel. I honed my skills at Dillon Guitars building guitars for such notable players as Michael Martin Murphey, Tish Hinojosa and Hank Williams Jr. In 1982 I began building un

der my own name - Kingslight Guitars. I had to leave lutherie for a time though due to family responsibilities but was able to resume building guitars again in 2002 and have since built instruments for many players across North America, Europe and Japan - most notably Erik Mongrain, Montreal guitar virtuoso. I keep it fairly low key, building usually one or two guitars at a time and doing some occasional repairs or restorations. I don't have a big advertising budget... so you may not have heard of me. I prefer to let my instruments be my advertising and word of mouth - and now some Facebook "shares". Update 2020: I’m currently “retired” from building guitars.
