Today, we pause to honor Juneteenth, commemorating June 19, 1865, when the news of liberation finally reached enslaved individuals in Galveston, Texas, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

Historically, access to literacy and education was one of the most fiercely guarded pathways to true independence. In the 21st century, that pathway has expanded to include digital literacy.

Computer science is the modern language of problem-solving, innovation, and economic empowerment. By ensuring all children have access to high-quality STEM education, we aren't just teaching tech skills. We are breaking down barriers, closing the digital divide, and equipping the next generation with the tools to build their own futures.

Today, we celebrate freedom, resilience, and the bright futures of all our young creators.

Our academy is dedicated to empowering minds and building foundational skills for every student in our community. Learn more about our mission and programs: https://skillsamurai.com/fl-brandon

Computer Science as the 'New Core Subject': Is your school falling behind?

Let’s stop pretending that "reading, writing, and arithmetic" are enough for 2026. They aren't.

If your child isn't learning to code, they're being left behind. Period. Most schools are still teaching tech like it’s 1995: a bit of typing here, a boring spreadsheet there. It’s hot air. It’s fluff. It’s not preparing them for the real world.

Coding is the new literacy. It’s the baseline.

But here’s the truth: most school curriculums are lightyears behind the curve. They don't have the tools, the time, or the trainers to give your kid what they actually need.

At Skill Samurai, we don’t do "average." We offer personalized learning paths in AI, robotics, and game design. Real tools. Real mentors. Real skills.

Most parents will see this and make an excuse. "They're too busy." "Maybe next year." That’s the 98.3% talk. Don't be that parent.

Give your child the edge they deserve. Stop settling for "good enough" schooling.

Comment "CORE" below and I’ll personally send you the details on how to get started. Let’s get to work.

Coding Without Screens: The 'Unplugged' secret to STEM success.

Most parents think coding is just staring at a glowing rectangle for hours. Honestly? That’s hot air. If you want a kid to actually *understand* logic: the kind that builds future CEOs and engineers: you start with their hands, not a keyboard.

At Skill Samurai, we lean into "unplugged" learning. We use physical blocks, gears, and robotics components to teach the foundations of logic and problem-solving before they even touch a screen.

Why? Because if they can't figure out the logic in the real world, a computer won't help them. This builds the grit, patience, and critical thinking skills that the "98.3%" lack. Stop the excuses about "too much screen time" and give them the tools to master the tech instead of just consuming it.

It's tactile. It's social. It's how real problem-solving starts.

Go make their future great. You’re the only one who can.

Comment "UNPLUGGED" below and I’ll personally DM you the details on our next local campus intake. No bots, just me.

Here’s the plot twist parents don’t see coming:

Coding class isn’t just “tech time.”
It’s social skills training… disguised as Minecraft mods, robots, and games.

Because tech-focused kids? They’re not antisocial.
They’re just tired of small talk and loud chaos.

Put them in a room with kids who also love building, testing, breaking, and fixing stuff?
Boom.
They find their people.

What changes:
- They start asking for help (instead of shutting down)
- They explain their ideas (instead of mumbling)
- They collaborate (because the project needs it)
- They get confident (because they can actually DO something)

Confidence isn’t a pep talk.
It’s proof.

If your child is bright but quiet… or “only social with their gaming friends”… this might be the best surprise you get this year.

Comment “TRIBE” and I’ll DM you the fastest way to try a class at Skill Samurai (no long-term contracts, no pressure).

Post-pandemic parents aren’t “flaky.” They’re just done being trapped.

If the last few years taught us anything, it’s this:
Life happens. Schedules blow up. Kids get sick. Work runs late.

So a 6–12 month contract for after-school programs? Honestly… nope.

That’s why flexible, no-contract learning is winning.
Because parents want:
- Month-to-month memberships
- No long-term lock-ins
- Easy make-up classes when life gets messy
- Progress that keeps moving (even if you miss a week)

At Skill Samurai, our flexible memberships are built for real families.
Your child still learns real coding + STEM skills.
You just don’t have to sign your life away to do it.

If you want info, comment “FLEX” and I’ll message you the options (and yes, a real human will reply).

Your kid’s screen time isn’t the enemy.
Passive screen time is.

If they’re just scrolling, watching, zoning out… that’s not “learning tech.” That’s consuming it.

Coding flips the script.
Same screens. Totally different outcome.

Instead of:
- endless YouTube
- mindless games
- doom-scrolling

They’re doing:
- building games
- programming robots
- creating apps
- solving real problems

And here’s the part most people miss: creation changes behavior.
Kids get focused. Patient. Proud.
Because they’re not being entertained… they’re making something.

If you’re tired of fighting your kid about devices, stop trying to “ban screens.”
Redirect them.

Comment “CREATE” and I’ll DM you the best first step based on your child’s age.

Screen time isn’t the enemy.
Passive screen time is.

Here’s the “tinkering effect” in plain English:
Kids don’t become problem-solvers by watching someone build.
They become problem-solvers by breaking stuff… then fixing it.

Robotics + hands-on STEM forces the skills most kids aren’t practicing enough:
- Trial and error (aka “failure” without the drama)
- Patience
- Debugging
- Teamwork
- “I can figure this out” confidence

Watching videos feels productive.
But it’s mostly consumption.
Tinkering is creation.
And creation is where the brain actually levels up.

If you want your child to swap scrolling for building, comment “TINKER” and I’ll DM you a simple starter path you can use this week.

Parents are split on AI in classrooms.
Some are like: “This is cheating.”
Others: “This is the future.”

Here’s the uncomfortable truth:
AI isn’t going away. And your kid’s future boss won’t care about the debate… they’ll care if your kid can WORK with it.

AI literacy isn’t “letting a bot do your homework.”
It’s:
- Asking better questions (prompting)
- Spotting bias + misinformation
- Verifying sources (yes, even when AI sounds confident)
- Using AI to build, code, design, and solve problems faster
- Understanding what’s private vs what you should NEVER paste into a tool

Banning it won’t prepare them.
Teaching it responsibly will.

If you want your child to be a creator (not just a consumer), comment “AI” and I’ll send you a simple checklist of the AI skills kids should learn next.
