For those able to attend the service and meal we thank you. To all who donated salads, desserts, money and time we thank you too. This is no ordinary fundraiser meal. We start with an impactful and often emotional service then share a meal, laugh and reminisce. People reconnect. Multiple generations of families gather. This fusion of fellowship, camaraderie, respect and tradition is something to behold. Our community always comes together to make it happen because it's important that it does. We are lucky to have the fellas in Legion Post #108 and for the new faces they bring on the scene. Chris Olson, we hope to hear you play "Taps" for a few more decades. We appreciate the Anna & Bobby Postal family for speaking and doing the readings. Becky Caulfield and crew thank you for making the cemetery always look so nice. See you next year!

The Larry F. Hartman American Legion Post #108 military service will be held at the Prairie Hill Cemetery on Memorial Day at 11:30. The honorarium will be posted on our page.

For the 105th year we will be serving a noon meal at the Bradley Community Center following the Legions service. To order a takeout meal, please text Joyce at 605-881-4552 or call Chris at 605-881-9068 with your name, phone number and number of meals. Prices are $15 for ages 12 to adult, $8 for ages 6-11. Cash, check or Venmo -Zobel-Prairie-Hill is accepted. Pick up is at the west kitchen door.

You can locate what you own or see what is available. We also provide cremation burials for anyone unable to travel to Prairie Hill.

Our priority project this year was to straighten and level an additional 61 headstones. This completes phase two and the results are noteworthy. Unfortunately, we removed one of the large heritage pines on the east side as it became a hazard.

All flowers not attached to the headstones will be removed the weekend of June 12th. If you need flowers placed or picked up, please contact Joyce. All decorations and luminaries must be aligned with the headstones for the groundskeeper.

This letter goes to approximately 200 homes via mail and 150 via email. You are welcome to provide your email address as every year we strive to go green.

We are grateful for and thank the many volunteers that provide hands-on support and all who provide salads, desserts and monetary donations. You are sincerely appreciated! We hope to see you at the military service and dinner on Memorial Day.

PRAIRIE HILL CEMETERY

A hallowed spot not far from town, we call Prairie Hill,
we gather here from far and near and I hope we always will.
Children, their parents and grandparents, all rest side by side.
near the prairie land over which they used to ride.
Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, all brought for final rest,
to be here, among those they loved the best.
We are grateful for the heritage they have left behind,
they wanted us to have security, and always peace of mind.
Though their work was hard, hours long, they had time for jokes,
these kindhearted neighbors, the nicest kind of folks.
Now they have left us, one by one,
laid down their tools, their work well done.
We were neighbors once and will be again,
when our work on earth is at an end.
So, each year we bring flowers and old friends meet,
but there is always one or more less for us to greet.
We enjoy Decoration Day dinner, home cooked by friends,
but most of all recalling the days of “way back when.”
Our flowers and speeches one day of the year
is just a small token of the love for those resting here.
And when it’s my time to rest beneath this hallowed sod,
I hope I am worthy to meet my loved ones and God.
