Manatee Literacy Council's mission is to empower people to independence through literacy skills. Please consider volunteering to change another adult's life!

Our primary goal is to meet the critical need for a more literate community by helping Manatee County adults with limited literacy skills learn to read, write, understand, and speak English well enough to meet the demands of daily life, to improve their potential for meaningful employment, and to enhance the quality of life for themselves and their families. We’re excited to share that the Manatee Literacy Council has been awarded a $21,718 grant from the Manatee Matches Giving Circle of the Manatee Community Foundation!

This funding will help us:
📚 Sustain free in-person English classes at local libraries
💻 Expand access to the Ellii learning platform
🚗 Launch our new English for Driving program
🤝 Strengthen our long-term impact in the community

One of our learners recently shared:
💬 “Because of these classes, I got a better job and feel braver!”

That’s the power of literacy.

But the work isn’t done—this is a matching grant, and we need community support to unlock its full impact by December 31.

With 68,000 adults in Manatee County struggling with low literacy, your support helps open doors to jobs, confidence, and opportunity. Read more here: https://manatee-literacy.org/news/adult-literacy-programs-manatee-county-grant/
