🇺🇸 Remembering our heroes ❤️‍🩹

Memorial Day is a federal holiday dedicated to mourning and honoring the U.S. military personnel who died while serving in the Armed Forces. It serves as a solemn day of remembrance distinct from Veterans Day, which celebrates all living veterans.

As a family who has several service members, some of who didn’t make it home, this isn’t just another day, holiday or start to the summer. It’s a day to remember.

❤️🤍💙 DID YOU KNOW? ❤️🤍💙
Armed Forces Day was established in 1949 by Secretary of Defense Louis Johnson to replace the separate, branch-specific holidays like Army Day, Navy Day, and Air Force Day. It was created to commemorate the unification of all military branches under a single department—the Department of Defense. The holiday was first celebrated on May 20, 1950.
