The Soap Opera in Popular Culture Conference is fast approaching! Following the link our bio to see the conference schedule.
Highlights include presentations from SCCS faculty Becca Cragin and Montana Miller, and from Pop Culture MA students Anastasia Hayden and Jeremy Cooper.
Sasha Kim, Stefanie Hunker, Dana Nemeth and Tyne Lowe will also present Love in the Stacks: Soap Operas and the Browne Popular Culture Library.

American Culture Studies PhD student Mónica Ramírez was inducted into the Ohio Civil Rights Hall of Fame on Oct 9! The founder of nonprofit Justice for Migrant Women, Moníca is also a civil rights attorney.

The SCCS Social Justice Learning Community will be hosting Banned Book Bingo Night! Learn about the books that are currently banned in schools, libraries and prisons around the country and the reasons why. Some of the books featured are available to win as prizes, along with other fun items! Light refreshments will be available.

SCCS stays winning 🥇 Popular Culture 2nd year MA students EJ Jolly, Rory Burmeister and Jester Zielenski presented their own panel at the PCAS/ACAS Conference in Huntsville, Alabama last week!
EJ, Rory and Jester’s research covered “alternate” cultural s*x symbols — chess players, older male celebrities, and monsters. We congratulate them on their hard work!
