Happy Juneteenth! And how lovely it is to have an official day to celebrate the beginning of righting wrongs....Something we can do as a country, a community, and as an individual.

There is still time to register for my upcoming webinar:

"Diversity, Equity, Inclusion + Collaboration: Strategies for Success"

It will be TODAY Friday, June 19th, 1 pm Pacific, virtual. It's FREE.

The Workshop will discuss the latest research on the principles and practices of DEI+Collaboration - what works, what doesn't, why it matters, and how it positively impacts any organization. As always, it is science-backed and evidence-based. And, as always, it will be highly interactive, and not boring!

"DEI doesn't work."

How many times have you heard that? Never? Several times?

Well, sometimes it's true...BUT the problem isn't the "DEI people." It's the system.

Here are some common roadblocks for a successful DEI "initiative":

- Lack of buy-in from leadership
- Unwillingness to change
- Valuing data over lived experience
- Becoming discouraged when there isn’t a quick fix

The ultimate basis for a successful DEI program is found within corporate culture and leadership:

Do we do the right thing BECAUSE it's the right thing to do?

Join me for "Diversity, Equity, Inclusion + Collaboration: Strategies for Success" tomorrow, Friday, June 19th, 1 pm Pacific, virtual. This is the perfect way to honor/celebrate Juneteenth!

It's FREE, with the option to make a small donation supporting a non-profit organization which has demonstrated DEI+Collaboration principles and practices consistently for over 50 years.

Are you afraid to say the words "Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion" out loud, in public?

Has your company been quietly (or not so quietly) decreasing the DEI initiatives it had started in the past?

LinkedIn primarily caters to businesses, and people in business. One of the ideals which has made the United States into an economic powerhouse is having a marketplace of ideas, where those ideas can be tested, tried, and then the best ones put to good use. If that marketplace of ideas is unfairly stifled, a decrease in innovation will surely follow.

I believe that having diverse perspectives helps companies discover and fix their blind spots.

I believe that creating equity in opportunity builds a more robust workforce.

I believe that inclusion is imperative if one is going to have diversity and equity.

I also go beyond inclusion, and add collaboration to the mix. Inclusion is getting invited to the party. Collaboration means that not only do you get invited to the party, you get to plan and execute the party. Genuine collaboration implies that I believe you have something valuable to offer, and that you believe I have something valuable to offer.

Beyond all of that, I believe that having robust and effective DEI policies and practices is "the right thing to do."

I also believe that the best way to stop a bully is to punch him in the nose. That is why last year for Juneteenth, and this year for Juneteenth, I say out loud, in public, on LinkedIn, I believe in DEI, the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and collaboration, that they are solid principles which improve our economy and our democracy.

Please celebrate Juneteenth by joining me on Friday, June 19th, 1 pm Pacific for a virtual Workshop on "Diversity, Equity, Inclusion + Collaboration: Strategies for Success."

Last year, I became highly puzzled (and quite peeved) at the anti-DEI sentiment infiltrating government agencies, businesses, and organizations, so I held a Workshop on DEI and Collaboration in honor of Juneteenth. I am doing the same this year!

"Diversity, Equity, Inclusion + Collaboration: Strategies for Success"

It will be this Friday, June 19th, 1 pm Pacific, virtual. It's FREE, with the option to make a small donation supporting a non-profit organization which has demonstrated DEI+Collaboration principles and practices consistently for over 50 years.

It has long been known that a diversity of perspectives usually leads to better decision making, that policies to promote equity can increase engagement, and that genuine inclusion and collaboration break down silos of information and can spur innovation.

Again, please join me on Friday, June 19th, 1 pm Pacific - a virtual Workshop on "Diversity, Equity, Inclusion + Collaboration: Strategies for Success."

I had a delightful time workshopping "the human side of business" a few weeks ago at both the Texas Treasury Management Association annual conference, Texpo, and at the annual joint seminar with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (LA ACFE).

I called it "workshopping" rather than "presenting" because my sessions are always highly interactive, harvesting and sharing the collective wisdom in the room. No "talking heads" here!

I love workshopping with financial organizations because I firmly believe that unless and until those who hold the purse strings in an organization buy into the importance of "the human side of business" and fully recognize that their people are their greatest assets, progress toward organizations that are "Humane, Ethical, and Resilient" will be slow and minimal.

My sessions this time with Texpo and IIA/LA ACFE included lessons from Scrooge, Marley, George Bailey, Norman Dale, Neo, etc. and how those lessons can have a profound impact on "the human side of business." They can help turn your organization into "a workplace where people want to stay, instead of wanting to leave."

I just watched "Expecting Young," the first film in the Women's Voices Now Film Festival, and I'm crying my eyes out. It's beautiful and sad and hopeful and powerful, all wrapped up in one.

Please take some time to view these extraordinary movies, some of which are made by girls through the Girls Voices Now program, an arm of the Women's Voices Now program.

The Women's Voices Now Film Festival started April 15th and continues through May 20th. These are films made by women AND girls, for women AND girls. This year's theme is "Forward in Her Footsteps: Drawing strength from those who inspire us." The films range in length from 2 minutes to 34 minutes, so it's very "doable" to watch them, even with a busy schedule. :)

You can get a pass to the Festival here: wvnfestival.com/2026

I first learned about this Film Festival last year, and the movies show the lives of real women and girls in the real world - the tragedies, the joys, the strength, the inspiration. They are truly amazing. Please take the time to view some of these remarkable stories.

We interviewed one of the leaders of this beautiful organization, Heidi Basch-Harod, on our Women Investing In Women podcast a few months ago. You can see her interview here: https://bit.ly/WIIW-Film-Festival-Heidi-Basch-Harod
